The flowers mostly vygies and daisies are in full bloom along the Coastal Section of the Park. At Skilpad Camp we had light rain showers on Sunday night (6mm) and are still experiencing very cold mornings with occasional frost, which is not good for the flowers. Moderate wind is also forecast for this week. The flowers at Skilpad are in bloom but are still patchy. We expect to have carpets of flowers in the coming weeks, all depending on weather conditions. We already have a variety of different plant species in full bloom. Most of the flowers are to be seen on the Khorhaan walking trail, which is currently the best place to view the flowers. The 5 km circle route flowers are patchy, but the flowers are starting to bloom very nicely there too.

Most of the dominant Daisy species are flowering. For example: Ursinia cakilefolia (Glansooggousblom), followed by Dimorphotheca sinuate (Namaqualand daisy). Other flowers to see are Diascia namaquensis (Ramhoringkies), Gymnodiscus capillaris (Reksening), Pharnaceum croceum, Pelargonium incrassatum, Pelargonium triste (Rasmusbas), Romulea citrina, Moraea schlecteri (Tulp), Lapeirousia silenoides (Meidestert), Gazania leipoda (Botterblom), Hesperantha pauciflora  (Bokbaaivygie), Bittergousblom, Dubbelgousblom and Blousporrie. The Caracal 4×4 eco-route has a wonderful flowering of Dubbelgousblom and different daisies.
